What we do After school sports Ice skating Ice skating with Step by Step is an incredible opportunity for your child. It may seem like a high-risk sport and not especially suitable for children with disabilities. But we’ve ensured that children with disabilities, like any other children their age, can access this thrilling activity. All children are risk-assessed prior to starting at ice-skating and each child will get adequate support, according to their needs. Many children will start off on a 2:1 basis, some with additional balance support, but will gradually reduce their dependence on support as they learn the skills and can balance on their own. In addition to the many physical benefits ice skating generates, such as improved posture and core stability, balance and muscle tone, are the emotional benefits. As your child will master this challenging, and sometimes scary skills, their confidence and self-esteem will soar.
